Windows 10: Folder cannot be compressed Windows 10

I get a "cannot be compressed" error because a character is included which looks like a single quote. It is a long error message which I cannot quote here. I have a screenshot of it but I cannot see a facility here for sending it. I see that this error can be caused by Windows being set to the wrong language but that does not look like the case here. Is there a list of characters that prevent file or folder compression in Windows 10?

• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

No option to compress folder

1. How exactly are you trying to compress the folder?

Follow these steps to check if that helps.

1. Locate the file or folder that you want to compress.

2. Right-click the file or folder, point to Send to, and then click Compressed (zipped) folder.

A new compressed folder is created in the same location. To rename it, right-click the folder, click Rename, and then type the new name.

If the issue persists then Perform
System File Check (SFC), and then check if this fixes the issue.

Follow the steps:

SFC scan:

1. Press Windows logo + X.

2. Select command prompt admin.

3. Type ‘sfc /scannow’ (without quotes) and press enter.

4. Restart your computer.

Access denied to compressed file
