    Folder creates new subfolders everytime i create a folder on a usb. Is this a virus?


    This problem does not occur in existing folders. Whenever I add a new folder to any existing location on the USB, these three folders always come up same names. Recently, I repaired the USB using Windows when it detects a problem with the drive. Is this a virus? Or should I disregard these folders?This happens when I try to copy the folder and paste it somewhere elseCould this be a virus? What do I need to do??

    The problem you've encountered in creating a folder could be caused by software or program conflict as the issue appeared a few days after installing the Windows 10 Creators update. For us to know if this only occurs when creating a new folder from the desktop,
    we suggest that you try creating a new folder using a keyboard shortcut or from File Explorer. Please refer to the steps below:

    Creating a new folder using a keyboard shortcut.

    • Click on the desktop.
    • Press CTRL + SHIFT + N.
    • A new folder should be created.

    Creating a new folder from File Explorer.

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Hover your mouse on the location where you want to create a new folder.
    • Right-click it, go to New > Folder.

    In case the problem persists, then we suggest that you go ahead and perform a clean boot. Doing so will start your computer using minimal drivers to help us determine what conflict is causing the problem. Check out

    "New Folder" command creates 4 folders on hidden network share

    This still applies on 1709 Build 16299.98 (not Insider)

    To reproduce:

    C:\TestFolder -> set permission: "Domain Users" "Allow" "This folder, subfolders and files"

    Traverse folder / execute file

    List folder / read data

    Read attributes

    Read extended attributes

    Create files / write data

    Create folders / append data

    Read permissions

    Right click -> new folder

    ...watch as 4 new folders appear.

    After adding:

    Write Attributes

    Write Extended Attributes

    Right click -> new folder

    ...only one folder is created.

    Mail for windows 10 - will not create folders

    Mail for Windows 10 offers the ability of creating your own folders and subfolders. I have followed the steps to do this however I keep getting an error message saying the folder could not be created. My software is up to date and I have tried the other
    troubleshooting suggestion offered (closing the app and opening it again) without success. Other ideas to fix this?
