Windows 10: Folder customization not working as expected in Windows 11

There are actually two issues. The first one leads to the second. I rip music to my MUSIC folder under my user profile. Here it is in a predefined folder type of "MUSIC" with a predefined view. If I copy the files to a a sub-folder under the MUSIC folder I get another "MUSIC folder" and the same view. If I then copy this folder to an external storage device, the folder revers to a folder predefined as "GENERAL ITEMS".OK. Just customize the folder to MUSIC. Here lies the problem. The customization only applies to the parent and one level below. I cannot get it follow to all sub-folders

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet Explorer. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Explorer.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel

• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
• Run the Internet Explorer performance troubleshooter

Change Folder View Layout in Windows 10


"uhm that method does not work. i want to set folder view as List as default instead Details for all folders"
Did you download and run Brink's .bat file in Step 1 ? Lacking that, look at the screens in post 3. In Step 5 'folders of this type' defaults to each of the Windows templates for Pictures, Music, etc. If you want ALL folders to have the same List view, r-click any folder in each of the 5 folders under This PC (Desktop does not apply) and hit 'Customize this folder'. Set to 'Optimize this folder for General Items". Then follow the screen in post 3 using List instead of Details in Step 1 and you should be good to go.
