  1. Folder destination when using "Save As"

When you used "Save As", the destination folder could be selected at will. Now, the idiots at Microsoft think everything in the world must be saved at "This PC", Documents.

Does anyone know if this can be fixed so files can be saved in a specified NOT specific folder of the user's choice??

    :)

How to stop Windows 10 changing destination folder when saving

When trying to save a file with the same name as a sub-folder in the folder in which I am trying to save, Windows changes the desination folder to that named folder. How do I stop Windows doing that?

To clarify, if I try to save a jpeg with the name "boats" in my Pictures folder, and the Pictures folder contains a folder called "boats", Windows changes the destination folder to "boats" when I press "save". It will not let me save a file called "boats".

How do I stop Windows changing what I have asked it to do?

How to stop Windows 10 changing destination folder when saving

A few more details as requested:

    • Did you make any changes to the computer prior to the issue?
      No

    • Is it an abrupt issue? No - I believe this is an unhelpful feature of Windows (unhelpful for me)

    • Do have any System Restore point set in Windows prior to the issue?
      No

    • Did you check if the same issue occurs when you log in to Windows using a different Local Administrator user account? I have tried this on another computer - the irritating change happens in the same way

As this happens on more than one computer, it is evidently a "feature" of Windows, not a bug, virus or piece of malicious software, so virus checking and scanning will not help.

I am hoping there is a Registry entry that I can change, that will stop Windows changing the destination folder into which I want to save, if I happen to choose a file name that is the same as a sub-folder in the folder in which
I am trying to save my file.

    Still hopeful,

    Mark

Saving a file to a folder

    Hello,

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm opening up an attachment from a google account. When I right click I don't have the 'save as' option also I did not have that option when I checked the 'file' either...

    Please advise.

    Thank you,
