Windows 10: Folder permission Access

Hello,

I was wondering if someone else is experience what I am getting. I have Windows 10. Also I am using Avira as my antivirus (Defender is disabled because of Avira - automatic thing).

So the issue is that randomly a folder is being locked for me. I am with administrative rights and it is my personal computer. I have 3 disks - 1 m.2 ssd with windows instalation and 2 HDD used to store data - films games etc. So on the 2 HDD randomly some folders have the attached prompt "You don't currently have permission to access this folder".

I actually know how to fix that - to go to Security and to manually edit the owner of the folder as "Everyone" or just fix the permissions below. However, it is very frustrating to do this every time and strangely not for all folders but randomly. Yesterday even the whole drive D had the problem. It was not usable and even unscannable because of those permissions.

I think Windows messes my folder permissions.

Read a bit on the internet and checked the controlled folder access option. It was not on and the defender was not on so this is not the reason.

Can someone help me with finding what is causing those permission problems?

how an administrator can give permission to access folders

Hi John,

To provide user/s an access to folders, see the steps below on how to do so:

• Right-click on the folder > Security.
• Under the Group or user names option, click on the username that you want to have an access to the folder; then, click on Edit.
• It will show you the page of permissions which you can allow or deny.
• Choose your desired permissions and click on OK.

Let us know what happens after following the steps given.
