    Folder Redirection, Windows 10, Server 2016 Major Issue


    A GPO of folder redirection was created a while ago and has been working fine. Until 2 month ago a user started experiencing a major problem. When the user places any file on the desktop or documents, the location disappears from sight and only comes back eventually after a while and a refresh. interestingly the server and redir folder is still viewable , however in the %User% folder the desktop folder is not viewable until it comes back.


    The error presented is


    \\Server-01\Redir\John.Smith\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted.


    so far only 2 PC's have had this problem and this issue does not occur with other shares.

    Offline files are disabled and users are owners of their folders in redir.


    Failed attempts to fix

    - tested physical connection to rack

    -remove and re-add to domain

    -New domain user

    -New GPO

    -New folder redirect location

    -Check time sync

    -nothing in event viewers on PC or Server

    - Allow Slow connections with folder redirection
