    Hi,Recently, a licensed piece of software started complaining that the system clock had been set back, invalidating the license.Turns out it does this by looking at file modification dates. I then discoved files and folders in C:\Windows\WinSxS started showing modification dates in the future. It's thousands of files with a corrupted date. How do I fix the file date for all files and folders in WinSxS?Today's date is 11/15/2023Already done:Checked system time, is correct. Set to automatically sync including timezone and DST.Ran Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore to find Win

    C windows installer folder - Delete?

    He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink Folders and files in C:\Windows\WinSxS modification date issue ;)
    Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
    First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
    Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

    Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

    It's in C:\Windows, assuming C: is the os drive... Mine's over 9gb... I unno why it grows that big

    Windows 10 Update & Installation Query - Dates

    Hi,

    On checking the Windows Update history on my PC running Windows 10, I can see specific installation dates.

    When I then check "Windows/WinSxS" folder, most of the file and folder modifications match up with the Windows Update history.

    I've noticed that there are some file and folder modification dates that do not correspond with any Windows Update installation date.

    For example, Windows Updates installed on 25th January 2018, 14th February 2018 and 15th March 2018 with corresponding file and folder modifications in WinSxS folder.

    However, there are also file and folder modifications in WinSxS folder on 8th February 2018 and 23rd February 2018 with no corresponding Windows Update installation.

    - Is this to be expected and what is the reason for this?
