  1. Folders and files reappear after being moved or deleted - Windows 11

I found someone's else post on this topic from the Microsoft Community, but the thread is locked and it seemed there was no follow-up on solving the user's problem. Here is the link I'm referring to: Folders and files reappear after being moved or deleted. I also have done the same steps as this user. I even did the CMD step mentioned in the link, but still not fixed. I don't have my OneDrive sync turn on and sign in. I also do not have a Dropbox in my PC. I was organizing my files from the desktop. I moved them into their folders, some files are moved into newly created folders. And some file

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink Folders and files reappear after being moved or deleted - Windows 11 ;)
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

  3. Reappearing files I deleted

    Hi Aleander,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We understand how you feel about the situation. We're sorry for the trouble.

I suggest you to follow the below steps to delete the folder and check if it's reappear.

      • Open the Command prompt with admin (Windows +x and select Command prompt).

      • In the command prompt, type the command below and press enter.

        NOTE: Substitute
Full Path of Folder within quotes below with your folder's full path within quotes instead.

RD /S /Q "Full Path of Folder".

      • The folder should now be deleted.

      • Close the command prompt.
Please reply to us with the status of the issue and check if it helps.

    Thanks.

Folders and files reappear after being moved or deleted

This folder keeps reappearing after I move it into another folder. I have tried the suggestion to change the owner to everyone. No luck. I have tried running the MSERT. It said it found 2 things Deleted one and partially deleted the other. Other security
programs find nothing (Malware Bytes and SuperAntiSpyware) One site I visited suggested editing the permissions for the folder. I received a permission error (see image below). Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied.

I am desperate to get this cleaned up. Any help would be appreciated.
