  1. Folders keep moving on their own

    Hello,

    Windows Version 10.0.18362 Build 18362

I have this continuous problem with the folders re-organizing themselves with rebellious permanence on my personal computer files and desktop.

I have a physical disability which means sometimes when I click the mouse, the right clicker also is clicked, meaning that every now and then my hand will drag and "make copies" or "delete files" and most irritatingly, put major computer files in my very-far-off- photo album from my niece's third birthday party. Now the problem is, I have 6,000 music files, my entire music library, inside of my niece's 3rd birthday photo album.

I cannot drag and drop this folder.

I cannot go to the properties and change the location, otherwise it gives me a "cannot drop child folder as parent".

I cannot delete this folder, otherwise, all of my entire music library is deleted into the recycle bin.

This feature is so annoying and I cannot seem to find a way around it. It happens at least once a month and with the annoying extent my family uses this machine and the amount of files located in Documents, Music, Pictures etc. it is just too difficult to continuously make new folders and transfer the data.

When I google search or bing search, the most irritatingly banal useless information comes up, such as "how do I rename a file in windows?" I am used to doing research and I am not sure if this is a purposeful neglect over this malfunction being ignored or if I am genuinely the only person experiencing this annoyance.

Please help me, all my files are in the wrong folders and will likely get deleted. I need to be able to remove these folders from the desktop and random photo albums without encountering the distress I am receiving from such a simple necessity this operating system is lacking. Thank you.

    :)

  2. Moving to Folders

    Hello Krishnan,

Let's work on this. You can follow the steps provided below to help move photos and videos on a new folder:

    • Swipe left and select File Explorer app.
    • Choose the folder where the photos and videos are saved.
    • Select the items you want to move.
    • Press the Move button.
    • You can create a New folder by pressing the Ellipsis (. . .) button or you can press the
Up button located at the right side corner of the screen to move the items to an existing folder.
    • Tap Check or Done button when finished.

We're here if you need further assistance.

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

    • I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

    • Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.
That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.
