    Folders named dots as the first carictor


    why do files named with dots as the first caricature become hidden, in media player 12 Phil Collins album Rips as ...Hits. when you close media player and open it again it has vanished, other albums named the same have the same problem like Britney Spears ....Baby one more time & Sting ...Nothing like the sun.Also you can not remove this attribute in properties.thanks all

    Windows 10: folders with dots before names have blank names in File Explorer

    I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and a lot of my folders that have a dot before the names now have no names, but exist and function, just blank names. How do you correct this? Most of the folders are in my C:\Users\username folder. I have 26 folders
    with dots before names in my C:\Users\username parent folder, but only 3 show names. If you go to the properties for each folder you can actually find the name, but it doesn't show in File Explorer. Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Edit: When I go to Properties, it will list the file type as (for example, .android) "Folder (.android)" instead of just "Folder", as with other folders. So it's the folder type that is the problem I think.

    Moved a folder from another drive and rename and it still shows as the old folder name in certain places

    Hi Nick,

    I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check the behavior.

    • Create a new folder name it as 'My Videos'.
    • Now copy/cut and paste the contents which are in the folder "Videos", and delete the folder "Videos".
    • Now check the behavior.
    Please keep us updated with the status of the folder, to assist you further.

    Unable to delete a folder - Invalid folder name


    Suggestion:
    1. Run chkdsk x: /r to make sure that there's no HD corruption.
      x: is the drive containing the folder you want to delete.
    2. Try to delete the folder again. If still does not work, go to step 3.
    3. Download: Download - Linux Mint and create a bootable USB using: Rufus - Create bootable USB
    4. Boot up with Linux Mint and try to delete the folder again.
      NOTE: Unlike WinPE. Linux does not have any Windows permission imposed to it so it is easier to delete.
