Windows 10: Folders on my USB gone and files with symbols appeared

    I plugged in my USB into my PC and when I opened it I saw files with symbols along with my folders, with the created date of 2042 or 2044.I didn't know what they were so I ran an antivirus to check whether they were virus or not but the antivirus said that the USB had no virus in it. I tried to delete the files but it said "The file name you specified is not valid or too long. I thought of formatting the drive so I tried copying my files and paste them in my PC disk but the antivirus blocked it. I looked for a solution on Microsoft Community and I saw a reply where it said to repair the USB dr

    Erroneous symbols at the bottom left corner of desktop icons

    I'm running Windows 10 with the latest updates. A few days ago, the icons for objects on the desktop changed appearance. The icons are correct but
    all have a symbol at the bottom left corner:

    • Shortcuts show the correct shortcut symbol
    • All files erroneously show a shortcut symbol
    • Almost all folders erroneously show a shortcut symbol
    • Some folders erroneously show "X"

    The icons for files and folders (including the Desktop folder) displayed using File Explorer are all normal.

    I would appreciate any suggestions.

    Bootable USB drive appearing in Disk Management with unusual symbol

    I have a bootable USB drive plugged into my PC and although it shows up in Disk Management, it doesn't show up in My Computer. Why does it have a weird symbol? It's the second drive in the list in Disk Management. Disk Management won't let me assign a drive letter, saying the list has to be refreshed, even though I just refreshed it.

    Can't delete folders/files within a symbolic link or junction mklink

    Thanks again. I just tried this - assuming a performed all steps correctly:

    I then created the new symlink and got the same results when trying to delete a folder:
