Windows 11 23H2 22631.3527 Oem version.I have been noticing this alot as of late but when I open a folder and move my mouse over items within that folder quite a few items will highlight. I have not clicked my mouse anywhere on that screen, I'm not doing a select all, just moving my mouse. Has anyone else seen this?

    Windows 10 menu item highlighting

I don't have a problem with dragging or highlighting files. I have a problem with no

highlighting on Windows menu items. Such as right-click on 'This computer' or

Recycle Bin and move the mouse cursor to an item on the menu. The items on the

menu do not highlight as the mouse cursor is positioned over them. The menu

items in individual programs highlight but not in Windows menu items. Either on

the desktop or in File Explorer.

  3. Moving entire folders

You can't move a system folder. Moving the contents is easy.

    • Create a sub-folder in the directory you want.
    • Open the original folder.
    • Ctrl+A will highlight all the contents of that folder.
    • Right click on it and drag to the destination folder in the left pane.
    • Release the mouse key and left click Copy Here.
    • If the move was successful, delete the contents in the original folder.

How to get rid of highlighting text on Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10.

Hello Likhitha, Internet Explorer was reset according to your instructions and the problem persists. I have attached a series of screenshots that show some examples of the errant highlighting.

Method of duplication-IE11 favorites pane open, mouse is hovering over the arrow at the right side of the folder or link line item, remain in line with the arrow and move mouse pointer up or down, multiple folder or link line items will be highlighted.

Expected operation-folder or link line items will only be highlighted when clicked or actively hovering over the single item regardless of mouse position while dragging it around. Highlighting will not remain on items previously passed by the mouse pointer.
Please note that highlight operates properly as long as you are not passing the mouse pointer over the "open in new tab" arrow.

First picture=normal screen with favorites pane showing some favorites folders. No mouse movement within the favorites pane yet.

Second picture=Mouse has been placed on the first folder line item and it highlights as expected. Mouse pointer itself cannot be captured but mouse is hovering over the "open in new tab" arrow after screenshot completed.

Third picture=The mouse has been moved directly downward remaining over the open in new tab arrow then moved back up a couple line items. Notice the folder line items are highlighted above and below the actual mouse pointer position. Also please note the
highlight covers only about 90% of the line for some strange reason. When IE 11 is working properly the highlight is over 100% of the line item. Also note the issue is being shown here as the line items above and below the mouse pointer position should NOT
be highlighted. Only the line item where the mouse is actually positioned.

Fourth picture=this shows that random line items can be highlighted and remain highlighted even with the mouse pointer in another part of the screen. Expected operation is that the highlighting will only appear on the line item where is mouse is currently
pointing or hovering over. In these examples I have not clicked on any line item yet to set the highlighting to remain on when the mouse is moved outside of the favorites pane. I have only hovered over as explained and moved the mouse pointer up or down
but without clicking any line item just yet.

Fifth picture=another example of errant highlighting this time showing how the actual links inside of the folders will exhibit the same issue. Again expected operation is that the highlighting will only appear on the line item on which the mouse is pointed
    at or hovering over.

Sixth picture-this represents how a normal highlight should look when a folder line item is selected and the mouse is hovering over another line item elsewhere in the favorites list.

In summary the highlighting issue is only present if the mouse passes over the "open in new tab" arrow within the confines of the favorites pane boundaries. Surprisingly this will happen quite often as you move in and out of the favorites pane activating
favorite links and using the mouse within the webpage. You will eventually end up passing over the arrow enough times that many line items will be highlighted and its hard to tell where you are actually in the list because now not only is your active link
    highlighted but many unwanted others.

Thank you for continuing to inquire about this issue. I am investing a significant amount of time trying to provide as much information as I can and I hope that means something in the end. In my personal opinion there is a problem here which is not present
in other IE 11 browsers. I would be happy to continue to provide information if it will help.
