VCRuntime140.dll missing.

I followed these instructions and rebooted my HP laptop and still got the message that vcruntime140.dll was missing. How do I fix this? Do I have to wait for the next windows update???

 

vcruntime140.dll is missing. devmgmtservice.exe system error.

vcruntime140.dll is the Visual C Runtime library. It should be located in C:\Windows\System32. I would do a search on your computer and see if it is present. If it is you may just need to re-register the library. If you open an elevated command prompt and type regsvr32 /s "C:\Windows\System32\vcruntime140.dll"​ that should re-register the library. Otherwise you may need to get the file from another computer and then register it.
