Windows 10: "Fooling" SSD's with little storage into accepting updates to Win. 10 via USB ESD WIM files...

I wasn’t able to download cumulative updates and had about 4gb of space on my SSD; after lengthy procedures I got on to Microsoft Tier 3 and we downloaded what I think is called an ISO; it's titled ESD-USB a WIM file is yet another name apparently: I was initially told that this was to “fool” the device into accepting the update. I didn’t see where it was sourced from and apparently Tiers 1 and 2 were unaware of it/them. I have it on a 32GB USB 3 Flash drive which I would like to return to use for storage but want to have access to this means of getting the laptop to accept

Also worth to remember is that after ESD to WIM conversion, new ISO only contains a single edition which always has index number 1. Using your CODE sample as an example, you made W10 PRO single edition WIM from W10 multi edition ESD. In original ESD the PRO edition is / was index 8, in new WIM file it's index 1.

Compacting a wim file?

Sorry, no idea where to put this. I just recently learned how to use dism. I use it to slipstream all hotfixes and ie10 ect into an AIO install disc. The problem is, it creates a huge install.wim after 8 index mounts and slipstreams. Considering all 8 images use the same darn wim and files, don't know why it has to increase the wim size by 1gig. Either I need to figure out how to use the same wim.install file for all indexes, or I need to compact the wim file which is now 4gbs with ie10 and all updates to April. Any way to do either?
