Windows 10: For a visually impaired person Screen readers stopped working since the last update

My brother is visually impaired and the only way he has to use his PC is through screen readers but all stopped working since the last and wonderful Windows update (Ive also had many problems with this last update, My PC everytime it boots says theres a problem starting windows and has to repair it, but thats another story for another day)

Like I said, screen readers is the only way he has to use his PC, is there a solution for him?. I suppose he could revert to a previous version of windows , no idea how though, and since windows is so incredibly intrusive it will eventually reinstall this latest version again without his consent

Windows 10 for Visually impaired

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per the issue description your girlfriend is visually impaired and can't see the icons and you want black color as the background color. Here are the steps which might help you to fix the issue.

• Press Windows key + X.
• Select Control Panel from the list.
• Select large icons under view by option.
• Click on personalize.
• Select any of the theme under High Contrast theme as per your interest.

In order to enlarge the taskbar icons you may refer to the steps provided below and see if it helps.

• Right click on the task bar.
• Click on Properties.
• Uncheck the box stating "Use small taskbar buttons" under taskbar tab.

First I am using the free / home edition of Windows 10 so maybe that is the difference between what you get and what I get?

I took your suggestion and looked at the updates. I am lost but I think the one yesterday may be the source of the killing of my Pango?

I have downloaded your two alternates but not yet installed them.

Could you give me some guidance for a workaround/ reversal?

What might the implications of a reversal?

Need a phone with SMS reader for a visually impaired

I would like to know if there is a NOKIA phone available that has a option of reading out the SMS.

I know that motorloa ROKR E6 has this option but the phone is touch screen which cannot be used by a visually impaired.

Pls let me know.
