    I have been trying to get voice chat for steam to work but it never does and when I hit test microphone on windows settings and the steam page it goes up a little then back down and stays there. I have troubleshooted and followed advice online but nothing works. I have restarted my computer and tried to update the audio drivers. My headset is working and I have used it for other devices on voice chat.

    Windows 10 USB microphone confusion in some apps.

    I have two USB microphones. One is part of a webcam, the other is a standalone microphone that's better quality. Every time I turn my computer on, in Xbox Voice Chat, it chooses the webcam microphone, despite the standalone being the selected microphone
    for the software. (The Xbox Voice Chat app does not have a "default" option, it only lists the two microphones.) To fix this, I have to select the incorrect (webcam) microphone that it is erroneously using, and then select the correct (standalone) microphone
    I intend to use. I have to do this every time I turn on my computer and use the Xbox Voice Chat.

    This is sometimes (seemingly randomly) a problem in Discord as well, when the "default" microphone is chosen. But I can signify the specific microphone I want there as well, and it seems to always correctly use that one. Just tonight I installed some audio
    software, VoiceMeeter Potato, and it seems to also confuse the microphones when
