  2. xfinity app lurking on my laptop

    Hi Hanks,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue with the Xfinity Assistant app on your laptop. Since the app is not a Microsoft product, I suggest that you try the following steps to remove it:

    - Uninstall the App:

    1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.

    2. Type "appwiz.cpl" and press Enter to open the Programs and Features window.

    3. Look for the Xfinity Assistant app in the list of installed programs.

    4. Select the app and click on the Uninstall button.

    5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process.

    - Use Task Manager to Disable Startup

    1. Open Task Manager:

    - Press `Ctrl + Shift + Esc` to open Task Manager.

    2. Go to Startup Tab:

    - Click on the "Startup" tab.

    3. Disable Xfinity Assistant:

    - Find Xfinity Assistant in the list of startup programs, right-click on it, and select "Disable."

A "clean boot" starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step.

    - Delete Remaining Files and Registry Entries

    1. Delete Program Files:

    - Navigate to the installation directory (usually in `C:\Program Files` or `C:\Program Files (x86)`) and delete the Xfinity Assistant folder if it exists.

    2. Clean Registry Entries:

    - Press `Windows + R`, type `regedit`, and press Enter.

    - Navigate to `HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\` and `HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\` and look for any entries related to Xfinity Assistant. Delete them if found.

    - Use a Third-Party Tool: If the above steps don't work, you might consider using a third-party tool designed to remove unwanted software. Be cautious and ensure you download such tools from reputable sources.

After following these steps, restart your laptop and check if the Xfinity Assistant app still appears. If it does, please let me know so we can explore further options.

    Your Sincerely

    Wifi Connection using Xfinity modem

An "authentication problem" suggests that you're using the wrong password. It's not at all clear what "Got Xfinity to fix that I believe by reconnecting modem with password" implies, but perhaps the Xfinity tech changed your wifi password.

What do you mean by "I have been having intermittent connection with Xfinity"? Are you referring to connecting by wifi with your laptop or Kindle or do you mean that even when you connect to the Xfinity modem by Ethernet (cable) your connection sometimes drops out?

View your wifi password and write it down. See several methods here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/view-change-wifi-password

Now take a look at the wifi password saved on your laptop:

If the password in your laptop is NOT the same as the one you viewed above, change it to match.

While you're at this screen, write down the "Security type" and "Encryption type" should further troubleshooting be necessary.

Adobe flash will not play Xfinity stream on Win10pro

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing an issue with Xfinity stream due to Adobe Flash player. We will look into this for you. However, in order to get clarity and to assist you with appropriate steps, please reply with the answers to
    the questions below.

    1. Which browser are you facing this issue with, apart from Firefox?
    2. Have you checked if the Flash player is enabled on your browser?
    3. Was there any major change or an update on your system, prior to which you weren’t facing this issue?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it is helpful to you.

Steps to unblock Adobe Flash Player:

    1. Login to Xfinity streaming on your browser.
    2. If there is a lock sign on the left or right end of the URL/address bar, click on it.
    3. Scroll down to find Adobe Flash Player and click on Unblock.
    4. You should be able to stream once the Flash Player is Unblocked.

I would also suggest you to refer the article on
    Flash Player Help
by Adobe and check if it is helpful to you.

Kindly follow the suggestions and get back to us with the results.

    We await your response.
