  1. For the first time in eleven years, updates downloaded and applied.

I turned on my computer this afternoon to find that windows update was checking for updates in the background like it should. It found some, and I cringed when I saw that it had a Cumulative Update and Malicious Software Removal Tool bundled together. It also had an Adobe Flash Player update along with the normal Windows Defender Update.

So I had a feeling I was going to be sitting at my computer forever and keep seeing the updates fail to download or install; especially when I saw the combination of updates available. The four updates I outlined above downloaded and installed in less than seven minutes. With the restart required, it took a total of about nine minutes altogether.

I swear when I titled this thread; it has actually been about eleven years since any Microsoft updates had downloaded and installed without a helping hand, or if you will, human intervention of some kind such as going to the Microsoft Update Catalog and installing them manually one by one.

I just can't believe it has actually happened, and since most threads are about getting help with update problems, this one is actually about not needing help for a change. Here is my update success list:

I know that one of the updates I mentioned is not visible in the list, but rest assured, it updated all the ones I listed above.

I hope it goes just as smooth for others, because I'm on satellite internet and I expected to be really busy the next few days trying to figure out how to get the updates to install. I always thought it was my satellite connection for my Ethernet that presented the problems; but I had that analyzed on-line and a in-home visit from an IT professional several times throughout the years because I could never get Windows Update to, well.............update.

I would be curious to find out if the next batch of updates (especially if it has a Cumulative Update) install just as easily as this batch did today.

    :)

Yes. Eleven years in computer time is like 100 years in human time.

  3. Screen Time - No more option for child to request more time from parents

My case is the opposite, I want to know how I can stop my kids or limit the times he can request more screen time.

Last night I received eleven emails in eleven minutes requesting more time, I declined the first time and after that I received many more requests. I need to have more control on this.

    Thank you.

I always let it update automatically. I don't ever remember experiencing any issues.

Free upgrade during the first year: Sounds good, too good to be 'true'?
