Issue - Earlier this year my previous aio had broken causing my computer to bluescreen due to my cpu overheating in little time, before this I had no issues with bluescreening at all, but after getting a new aio the bluescreens ceased when playing any game. Until about a month or two ago where any time I attempted to boot up Fortnite my computer would instantly crash pulling up a bsod with the stop code: Unexpected_kernel_mode_trap, but not only did it show the usual stop code on the bottom it had and still shows every time trying to launch the game 4 codes on the top left of the screen - 0x00

  2. Computer crashes on game launch Gaming and Xbox / Games and gaming / Games issues

    System Specs:

    • 13900KS
    • RTX 4080 FE
    • Z790 Hero Mobo
    • DDR5 Dominator Platinum 6400

My computer started crashing on game launches approximately November of last year, however at that point in time it was only call of duty. Last week this problem affected all games, including Fortnite which is what I mainly play.

I was able to play Fortnite after switching to Direct X 11, but the game will not launch on Direct X 12. Anytime i launch this game or any others my computer attempts to load the game, freezes, then black screens followed by an occasional blue screen.

I have used a DDU and reinstalled the latest driver for my graphics card and the problem persists. I have also done a complete system wipe and still have the same issues, I have also done furmark testing and it passes successfully with no temperature issues. I have also checked my RAM for any issues and the testing came back as nothing wrong.

Computer crashes after trying to launch Fortnite

Recently, my computer has been crashing and giving me a blue screen when I try to launch Fortnite.

I think the crash occurs because the game/my account cannot handle when I change what account I am trying to launch with. The only fix I have found that works EVERY TIME is to wait for the next patch to roll out and to NOT change accounts, even on the fortnite.com website. Another way I have found to fix this error is to get the blue screen, to open the launcher, and then to restart my computer multiple times manually, which, in turn, takes a lot of extra time and work.

The error returned when I try to launch Fortnite is a System-Thread-Exception-Not-Handled error and, in half-knowing what runs games, I know that a thread is what actually runs the game which helped me figure out the account glitch. Also, when I immediately close the Epic Games Launcher after getting this glitch, I get a different blue screen message that I can't recall right now.

    Computer Specs and Windows version

Also, Fortnite runs with the Easy Anti-Cheat software, which could be the source of the problem.

    EDIT:

I found the root of this problem: the file is too large to download into the C:/Program_Files folder, which causes it to run weirdly and crash. I don't know of any fix for this besides getting a larger SSD (as of right now it is a 128 GB SSD.
