Force a keyboard to be the default on startup

I am running Windows 10 on a new laptop. The laptop's keyboard is Swiss French, although I work primarily in English.

    Region is set to Switzerland.
    Regional Format is English Switzerland.
    Display Language is English Switzerland.

Preferred Languages are in the following order:

English Switzerland - default app language, default input language, windows display language

    French Switzerland

    Chinese

    Nepali

Advanced Keyboard Settings - Override for default input method is "English Switzerland- Swiss French"

The problem is on every start up the keyboard defaults to Nepali, and I have to manually change it to English. I feel like I've tried every setting and this is a known bug in Windows 10. Any suggestion on how to resolve this issue?

    Thanks for your help!

    :)

    Language/Keyboard default

    Hi Sandra,

You can try these steps to set up your preferred defaults:

    • Go to Settings and click Time & Language.
    • Click Region & Language.
    • Click on your default system language then, click Options.
    • Click Add a keyboard then choose your preferred keyboard language.
    • Remove the other keyboard language by choosing it then click Remove.

    Tell us if this works.
