  1. Force Windows 10 Upgrade (Skip Hardware Check)

    All-

I am trying to upgrade a Windows 7 system that I know will run Windows 10. I downloaded the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant and it won't allow it because the system reports 1.99GB RAM, when it is really 2.0 GB. I can add more RAM later. It's an office PC.

Is there a way around this?

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Activation - No Activate by Phone Option

The Windows 10 upgrade doesn't use your previous Windows version key. When you upgrade, Windows 10 installs a generic key (it's the same for everyone) and uploads your hardware config to Microsoft's server and then activates. After that you can do a fresh
clean install, skip entering a key, and it will automatically use the generic key. Then it will check with the server to see your hardware configuration was activated prior and will reactivate.

Since you changed hardware it sees it as a different computer so it won't reactivate. You need to reinstall Windows 8, activate it, then do the upgrade again to get your current hardware config activated. Once that is done you can do a clean reinstall of
Windows 10 if you want, skip entering a key and it will activate.

It's a big pain in the you know what to have to go through this and in my opinion is one of the dumbest things Microsoft has ever done. The real problem though is going to be in a year when Microsoft stops offering the upgrade for free.

  3. Checking hardware before upgrading to 8.1

Before I go through the hassle of upgrading to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 I would like to check to even see if my hardware is compatible with Windows 10. Is there any way I can do this or will I be forced to upgrade to find out?

Download the ISO file. Download a program to mount the ISO file in Windows 7. Run setup.exe from the virtual DVD drive that opens when the ISO file is mounted.

How do I mount iso image file in Windows 7?

Just make sure to download the ISO file that matches the version of Windows 7 that you have now.

  5. I figured it out. I just disabled the WMI Windows Service and it skips the hardware check.. or passes it anyway.
