Windows 10: Forced restart after wrong PIN

My four-year-old son loves trying to guess my PIN on my locked Windows 10 desktop at home. In the past, I usually sit down to my computer with the message:

You've entered an incorrect PIN several times. To try again, enter A1B2C3 below."

This was how I knew he had been playing with it, but no big deal. I just type in "A1B2C3", then my PIN, then I'm good to go.

But in the past couple of weeks, I've been getting a new message:

You've entered an incorrect PIN too many times. To try again, restart your device."

So now I have to long-press the power button on the tower and restart my computer which obviously is more of an inconvenience than typing "A1B2C3".

Does anybody know why this happens and if there is a way to disable this behavior?

Windows pin not working after restart

Hi Bhaumik,

The possible cause of this issue is corruption of files or it could be missing registry settings. To address your concern, we suggest you to follow these steps:

• Open File Explorer and browse to this location:
  C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC
• Delete everything within that folder
• Go to Settings > Accounts >Sign-in Options, click Add a PIN again and set your PIN
• PIN sign in should work going forward

Clear "Pin suggested" list in People Bar

Does anybody know how to clear the "Pin suggested" list on the "People bar"?

Contacts are added to the "Pin suggested" list once you've pinned and unpinned them. But there seems to be no obvious way to remove them from that list.

After playing around with this feature and pinning and unpinning many dummy contacts, it's rather annoying to see them in the "Pin suggested" list when you click on the "My People" icon in the taskbar.

To resolve this issue with your PIN, follow these step:

• Restart your computer first, then after that, open File Explorer and browse to this location:

C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC

• Delete everything within that folder.
• Go to Settings-> Accounts->Sign-in Options.
  
• Click Add a PIN again and set your PIN.
  
• PIN sign in should work going forward.
