Windows 10: forced windows update.

I was playing a game tonight when my computer randomly without any issues blue screened. It said there was a fatal error i forget exactly what it said. It then proceeded to force an update BEFORE fixing the cause of the crash, then fix the crash, then do cleanup from the update. Now the game i was playing cannot load. It start to load then task manager claims it is not responding. The music starts to play after this but the game cannot load and gets stuck at the beginning of the loading bar. I also had windows updates turned off so it should not have been able to update anyway.

^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

To stop the download, uninstall the KB3035583 update (under "Control Panel > Windows Update > Installed Updates").


To get rid of the C:\$Windows.~BT folder:

• Right-click on your C: drive.
• Select "Properties".
• Click on [ Disk Cleanup ]
• After the initial scan: If you have a [ Clean up system files ] button, click it and wait for the second scan to finish.
• Scroll down the list and look for "Temporary Windows installation files" (its size should be in the gigabytes range); check the box.
• Click on [ OK ] to start the clean-up.
