Windows 10: Forced Windows updates - ridiculous

Soooo... I would actually just like to start organizing a petition to either 1. Get our freedom of choice regarding updates back, or 2. Perhaps to get MS to start paying for people's hardware that their software updates render useless which I guess would grant us the 1st request anyways, because it would mean them giving away around 0,001% of their profits, and that would be an actual fear for them, right? Since March this year I have had to swipe and reinstall my OS three times, first of which permanently deleted around 20GB of priceless memories - all my photo albums!! Yeah, you could say 'use an external drive', well, ****, not all of us can throw money around like it's nothing, some of us from poor countries have saved up for about a year to be able to afford a shutty little laptop. Right now I have, what, 35 days? Until the next time I will have to swipe and reinstall my OS, because that is as far as I can push the update back, after which it will force the update upon me anyways whether I like it or not, pretty much what it states. THIS IS MY LAPTOP, I PAID FOR IT WITH MY OWN MONEY, WHY IN THE HELL DO I HAVE TO AGREE TO LET ms COMMIT VIRTUAL-RAPE ON MY SYSTEM? I DO NOT CARE ONE BIT FOR YOUR FEATURE AAAAND 'SECURITY' UPDATES! MY LAPTOP WAS WORKING PERFECTLY FINE FOR 7 MONTHS BEFORE MARCH, I HAVE McAfee, I DID NOT NEED NOR WANT ANYTHING MORE FROM MY LAPTOP AFTER THOSE 7 MONTHS, STOP YOUR BABYSITTING BS!



JUST FKN WHY?!?!?!?!


WHY?!


Why can we not turn off AAAAALLLLLLLLLL windows updates PERMANENTLY, and as I've seen, people at microsoft don't really know what permanently means: PERMANENTLY - FOREVER, UNTIL THE END OF TIMES, NEVER AGAIN, FOR ETERNITY, INDEFINITELY.

^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

To stop the download, uninstall the KB3035583 update (under "Control Panel > Windows Update > Installed Updates").


To get rid of the C:\$Windows.~BT folder:

• Right-click on your C: drive.
• Select "Properties".
• Click on [ Disk Cleanup ]
• After the initial scan: If you have a [ Clean up system files ] button, click it and wait for the second scan to finish.
• Scroll down the list and look for "Temporary Windows installation files" (its size should be in the gigabytes range); check the box.
• Click on [ OK ] to start the clean-up.
