No "Forgot Password" Prompt on Windows PC Lock Screen

Hello,

I woke up and forgot the password to my local account on the PC this morning, and the "I forgot my password prompt" is nowhere to be seen, so I can't get into my computer (Dell XPS PC running most recent version of Windows 10 and Office 365). I am the administrator
on the PC.



We have tried:

• Power cycling/restarting the computer
• Using an old password
• We can't do a factory reset because we can't log in

Any fixes on either getting the "forgot password" prompt on the lock screen to show up and/or remotely resetting a local windows account password?

Here are the steps you can follow to reset your lock screen password if you've forgotten it:

1. Use Your Microsoft Account: If you are using a Microsoft account to log in to your Windows 10 device, you can reset your password online. Go to the Microsoft password reset page at: Recover your account. Choose 'I forgot my password' and follow the on-screen instructions. You will need access to the email or phone number associated with your Microsoft account to receive a security code.
   
2. Change your password by using another administrator user:
   
   • Boot into Advanced Startup Options: Hold the Shift key while selecting the Restart option. This action will reboot your computer into the Advanced Startup Options screen.
     
   • Access Command Prompt: Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt. This will open the Command Prompt before Windows boots up.
     
   • Replace Utility Manager with Command Prompt: In the Command Prompt, enter the following commands, pressing Enter after each:
     
   
   
   This will replace the Utility Manager at the login screen with the Command Prompt.
   
   
   
   1. Restart your PC: Type wpeutil reboot and press Enter to restart your computer.
      
   2. Open Command Prompt at Login Screen: At the login screen, click the Utility Manager icon. This should now open the Command Prompt.

   Replace [username] and [password] with your desired username and password.
