    PLEASE HELP, I AM SCREWED! We have been working on about 4 Excel files for several years with my colleagues at work. Since the files are only so small we had them saved on onedrive, but non of us maintained a copy of the files ourselves. In the past we would have multiple types of different versions when one or several of us would work on the files, then it would become a nightmare, trying to cut and paste and who had the most recent version.

    We decided to just keep the files on a onedrive account and we would all get a copy of the links to the files. We placed the links on our bookmarks bar and we were all just one click away from being able to edit the Excel file online and also be able to see who was also sharing the file at the same time. It worked out perfectly for years and never had a problem.

    Then a couple weeks ago, we clicked out links and every single one of us got this message:

    This item might not exist or is no longer available

    This item might have been deleted, expired, or you might not have permission to view it. Contact the owner of this item for more information.

    This happened to every single one of us. We all had the link and we worked on it often, but no matter what, we haven't been able to fix the link. They gave us a dozen of reasons on how to fix it, and pressed us to load onedrive on all our computers, look for versioning, deleted files, damaged files and all kind of crazy things. These were totally irrelevant because we purposely never had the files on our computers, we always used google chrome to click the link and run Excel online to avoid all those problems many years ago.

    Ironically, we have had about 30 files on there from since even back in 2012-2016 etc, those were fine. However we can access the files, from 2 years ago, but nothing in the last month or so. Some files were just completely missing totally. They weren't that important, but we have been working night and day trying to figure this out and it is driving us nuts and really are totally at a loss.

    Again, we have never had these files on our computers, so it is doubtful that there would be a way we could get the files from our computers. Like I said, not one of us changed anything, despite every time we click the green Excel icon, it turns into a blue onedrive icon, giving us the same message.

    I can't imagine that this would be such a simple issue. I am almost certainly there could have been 50 ways to have handled this better, however, the system worked very well for us and never hand any problems until now. Now everything we try, we get the newest version of the files from 2 years ago, which are almost completely useless.

    OneDrive files won't stay pinned to taskbar

    If a pin an excel files that is saved in my OneDrive folder to the pinned excel files list in the taskbar, once I open that file it disappears from the pinned list. This only happens with files saved in the OneDrive folder. Any files saved in my documents
    remain pinned to the taskbar. How can I get the OneDrive files to stay pinned? They stayed pinned before but just started disappearing this last week.

    Excel file type disappeared

    I am using Windows 10 and my excel files changed to Adobe file type in sudden. And there is no option for me to choose Excel 2016 to change back excel files open with excel 2016. What should I do?

    Excel file type disappeared

    Can you open Excel without trying to open a file. There should be an Tile on the Start menu or in the list of all programs. Also check to make sure it is listed under the list of installed programs. It may be part of Office 2016.

    Go to Start > Settings > Apps select Default apps and see if Microsoft Excel is listed under Choose default apps by file type. Look down the list for .xls, if it is listed and shows anything other than Excel then change it to Excel.

    PS. another thought, when your file opened with Adobe did it display correctly.
