  1. Free upgrade onto new PC?

Hello. I am building a new PC soon and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have heard that I may be able to get this for free because Microsoft didn't stop the free upgrades despite the program officially ending. The problem I am having is that the articles I have read and the people I have spoken to are giving conflicting answers. I would appreciate any clarity you can provide.

I still have an old laptop that came with Windows 8 installed on it. My plan was to use the Windows 8 machine and the Windows media creation tool to put Windows 10 on a USB and install it directly onto the new machine. Someone has told me this won't work and that I need use my Windows 8 machine and the Windows media creation tool to put Windows 8 on a USB then once I install that on the new machine it should let me upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

Is there a way for me to get Windows 10 for free on my new PC or should I just buy a key? If I can get it free, how do I do it? Thanks for reading.

I'm going to take it step by step, guys. I need to find the problem with this current computer. I might have to upgrade some components, so that it is still runnable. As for the new one, yes....i will build on it later. I need to find something decent 'gaming experience', all suggestions appreciated. THanks.

  4. Free upgrade onto new PC?

    PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval
    • Install system in case
      • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
    • Turn on PC
    • setup HDD
    • run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
      • run realtemp at the same time
    • While in Prime95 test
      • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
      • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
      • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!
    What do you guys think??
