1. Frequent BSoD While Gaming DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

Just an update, i played farcry 4 for a few hours last night on 2GB of ram, it was quite choppy but not unplayable (as expected from 2GB of ram). I did not get a BSoD that night, however upon exiting the game i noticed the computer had lost sight of the wifi, which is what usually happens before a BSoD. Even if ram sticks are the issue, i cannot game with 2GB of ram so i'd have to buy some more ram at some point. Today i went out and bought two 4GB DDR3 1600MHz ram sticks and have been using them for my ram. I ran the memory test with them and it did not produce any errors. After several hours of gaming i had the sight of the wifi drop out twice and one blue screen with DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION as the error message.

The blue screen sat there for a very long time at 100% so i did a hard shut down, assuming it was just stuck or something. I don't know how useful the error file will be to you, but here it is anyways *Smile

Flowvector, here are the results of your dump file. You had 1 dump from the 15th.

Code: fffff802`d7c9b490 fffff801`46e9a9d0Unable to load image athrx.sys, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for athrx.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for athrx.sys athrx+0x15a9d0
That is your Atheros Network Driver

Code: fffff802`d7c9d270 fffff801`446cd7cbUnable to load image nvstor.sys, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for nvstor.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for nvstor.sys nvstor+0x1d7cb
That is your Nvidia Storage Drivers, which is where we started this thread, as I recall. It's unusual to have several problems start at the same time. WE know you had ram problems, and I think those are resolved now.

When we get a dump file like what I just posted, what is typical is one of the three is the cause and the other two are the 'victim'.

This may sound a little technical to you but, if the online game you were playing was calling for additional info from the game (data on your hard drive) and/or graphics drivers and you lost Wi Fi connection. You would not be able to provide the game with the data and the game would crash.

If, on the other hand the storage drivers caused your hard drive to be unreadable, the hard drive would be unable to provide the driver data to the Wi Fi or the graphics and they would stop functioning.

I explain this so that you will understand a little. Your biggest problem, it seems, is your older hardware. Normally it would be pretty easy to download and install up to date drivers, but you don't have them.

Are you using a PCIe card or a Wi Fi Dongle? If you are using a Wi Fi dongle, would it be possible to remove it and connect by Ethernet wire? That would be the easiest way to find out if that is the problem. I also know that it seems that a lot of wi fi dongles have issues with Windows 10, probably because of drivers.

  3. Thanks for the explanation! That definitely helps make a little more sense than my computer failing all at once like it appeared it was.

My device managers says my network adapter is "D-Link AirPlus SWL-G520 Wireless PCI Adapter(rev.B)" So i would assume it is PCIe. It's a card that plugs into the motherboard and has an antenna coming through the frame. No USB for internet here *Smile . If it was a dongle, unfortunately an Ethernet cable isn't an option; it would have to be run through two floors of building.

Try going into device manager, expand the Network and storage drivers listed, right click them, select properties, click on the drivers tab and press the button to update drivers and use the web option.

  5. So i just checked everything under the "Network Adapters" and "Storage Controllers" tabs and everything in there is up to date.

have we reinstalled the graphics drivers using custom install and only installing the Graphics driver and PhysX?

  7. Last night i tried that and it came back with an error saying they couldn't be installed. So instead of trying again, i did just a pure clean install of my graphics drivers with all the components.

Sorry for the late reply, weekdays can get busy *Smile

No problem about the reply. How has it been acting? Some of the components can cause problems. GeFrorce experience causes many problems. You don't need Nvidia audio and HDMI drivers. You have audio/HDMI drivers in your motherboard chipset drivers.

Please uoload the DM Log again and let me look. Also from Control Panel (category view) >uninstall a program, please post a screenshot showing all installed programs. I know it may take more than 1 screenshot, but that's OK. This may help https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1...en-forums.html

Please right click on the start icon and select Command prompt administrator, give admin permissions and copy/paste this into the window that opens and press enter sfc /scannow . If you decide to type it in, please notice the space between the sfc and the /. We want it to say no integrity violations were found. If it says there where corrupt files that could not be repaired, please reboot and run it again. You may have to run it 3 times with reboots in between each time.

  14. Just nothing there
I may have done a hard restart when it froze the last two times, it tends to wait on the blue screen when the dump is at 100%.

EDIT: just finished with the sfc /scannow and it brought back corrupted files all three times. It tells me there are details in the CBS log

see if this will work, open the same command prompt (Administrator) and run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press enter. It will look like it isn't doing anything, just let it work. It will give you a successful message or an error.
