Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter will not install from Windows Store (SurfacePro3, Win10)

I reloaded my Surface Pro 3 with Windows 10. I am attempting to install the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter software from the Windows Store. When I attempt to install, it fails and displays a "Try that again" message with error code 0x803F7000.

I have attempted the following troubleshooting steps already:

    • Used the Windows Store troubleshooter app - no issues detected.
    • Used the WSReset.exe to reset the Windows Store - allows me to retry the install & produces same install error.
    • Attempted to locate prior installs of the Wireless Display Adapter - no prior installs/apps found.
I can project to the Microsoft Display Adapter using the native Windows 10 display features, but the wireless connection drops about every hour or so and forces me to go back into Settings and re-initiate the connection. The monitor with the display adapter
connected is less than 2 ft from the Surface Pro 3 (sitting next to each other on the same desk) so it does not appear to be a distance/signal strength issue.

    Any advice?

Windows 10 USB Installation Black Screen

The black screen is usually the result of not fully-compatible graphics drivers. Restart the computer several times before it fully loads Windows. Eventually you will see the troubleshooting screen. Select Advanced startup options and then Safe Mode. When in Safe Mode, click on the search icon and type device. Click to open Device Manager. Expand the display adapters and right-click on your adapter. Select Update drivers and then the last option at every step until you see a list of adapters. Uncheck the "show compatible devices" box to see all brands. Go to standard display adapters and select Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Windows may warn you they cannot verify the driver is compatible with your device. Install anyway. When complete restart the computer and let it load normally. It should load with basic graphics so you can see the desktop. Once there download the latest driver for your graphics card and install it. You should be OK.

PC goes into black screen and froze

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's not a software related issue which is why I was suggesting that you remove the video card to start with since it's such an easy process of elimination step.

I'm not familiar with AMD CPUs, I did see that you had listed in your system specs but I had no idea whether or not it has an iGPU

Is there any possibility of you being able to get your hands on any compatible video card at all?it would be the easiest step to try to troubleshoot or at least one of the easier ones. You should be able to get into the bios without anything but A display cable hooked up to the motherboard
