Windows 10: fresh install, old supermicro motherboard, almost gave up

    hi all guys, marco from rome, italy here, looking for advices because i'm about to give up


    i got this old motherboard in very good conditions, Supermicro X7DAL-E+ loaded with 2x Xeon E5410, 24gb ram, video Gtx 650Ti and everything works like a charm in debian linux. i know we're talking borderline to trashware, but honestly i can't go for new hardware if the old one can still do the job, it's a personal statement.


    i spent the entire morning trying to go with a fresh install on this machine, unsuccessfully.

    i started preparing the installer, both usb and dvd, tried on a different machine and the install procedure starts with no problem, so the installer itself is ok.


    but on the supermicro machine the installer stucks on the very first blue logo, both usb and dvd way.

    so i tried to reset bios to default setting, tried with and without ethernet connected, i tried disabling legacy floppy support, only 4gb ram left on board, tried to swap video with a quadro Nvs290, i even tried to boot from a full activated win10 hdd from my laptop, but that blue flag is the best i can reach.


    hdsentinel says the hdd is ok, and they told me they worked with win7

    am i missing something on the way or should i definitely give up?

    Fresh Install of Windows 10 on a "new motherboard"

    Hi

    I was just wondering what the process was for a fresh install. I'm currently upgrading to a new motherboard and my current machine already has windows 10. After some digging I found that windows 10 doesn't play nice when it comes to upgrading major components
    of a PC. So is there a way I could transfer my old (windows 7) product key and use it to reactivate my window 10 again on a new motherboard?

    Windows 7 wont install drivers

    If you having an issue installing a driver that worked before you formatted or wont install on a fresh build, sometimes this means hardware damage
