Windows 10: Fresh Install Problems

Hi there.


I'm noticing some random issues after a fresh install of Windows 10 on my laptop.


I used the "Media Creation Tool" to create an installation via USB. Afterwards I installed updated drivers pre-downloaded via Dells website, then installed any updates Windows had.


Originally the laptop came with Home version but I bought Windows Pro via the Microsoft store. But every time I attempt to install it even the first time it downloads fine, starts to install, then says "Windows update failed 0x8007005". At this point the Microsoft Store just freezes and nothing else happens, I leave it for half an hour just in case it was doing something in the background.


After that I restarted and it seemed to continue installing pro "Updating Windows" when restarting, then further installations when Windows starts up, I go into system information and it seems to have upgraded despite the error.





Remember that all I have done is Install Windows, up-to-date drivers & updates. Nothing else.


Something else I've noticed is that I don't have any troubleshooters in Settings>Update&Security>Troubleshoot. I can find some in the old style Control Panel but of course they're meant to reside in Settings. At this point I thought there was an issue with system files so used sfc /scannow but this comes back clean.





FYI if I change diagnostic to "Full" it makes no difference. It just seems to me that something isn't right, I've done some Googling but always returns other more common issues. Does anyone have any suggestions to whats going on?

ATI Radeon HD 6950 - FPS Problems

500mhz under 3d? wow that is an strange problem. and in 2d does it goes to 250?

Anyway I would suggest doing this if not tried: driver resets to default *Smile this solve a few problem for me in the past.

 

PC goes into black screen and froze

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's not a software related issue which is why I was suggesting that you remove the video card to start with since it's such an easy process of elimination step.

I'm not familiar with AMD CPUs, I did see that you had listed in your system specs but I had no idea whether or not it has an iGPU

Is there any possibility of you being able to get your hands on any compatible video card at all?it would be the easiest step to try to troubleshoot or at least one of the easier ones. You should be able to get into the bios without anything but A display cable hooked up to the motherboard

 

Fresh USB Windows 10 Install - Failing

I am trying to install a fresh copy (reformatted the hard disk) of windows 10 using a USB

• Created an installation media on a USB flash drive (Win 10 pro) from this page Download Windows 10
• Changed the boot order on the other PC so that it boots using USB
• Selected custom install
• Installing Windows goes through the following steps successfully: Copying Windows Files, Getting Files ready for installation, Installing features, Installing updates and before the last step (Finishing up), it restarts
• Then it goes back to the start of the installation steps

I am stuck and have read numerous posts but don't know what to do to install a fresh copy of Win 10.
