Windows 10: 'Fresh Start' in security settings

Hi. My laptop is quite a few years old now, but was upgraded to windows 10 for free when it was released. I had bought the laptop from a shop with windows pre-installed and when I upgraded to windows 10 I had to contact Microsoft for a product key. I now appear to have a lot of updates waiting to be installed and my laptop is very slow. I am trying to get all of the updates sorted, but it is taking forever. I was looking through the security settings and found 'Fresh Start', which states - start afresh by reinstalling and updating Windows, personal files will be kept, while most apps, including pre-installed apps, will be removed.


What I would like to know is, will I need a product key to do the reinstallation? As I wouldn't know where I out the product key, and will this resolve the issues I am having with the updates, as I am assuming no updates will be required?

Windows Fresh Start

What I mean by fresh start is, an option found in Windows Defender Security Center -> Device Performance & Health -> Fresh Star

• Fresh Start: "Start fresh with a clean up to date installation of Windows. This will keep your personal files and some windows settings, and remove some of your apps."

I proceeded to check the disk through the mentioned instructions but no error was found. Any idea what might be causing the issue?

I want to reinstall windows 10with a clean version

windows suggest to use the new fresh start that comes with the anniversary packet. I am unable to do a fresh start because my windows defender do have a security centre. please give me advice I am ready to throw this laptop out the window.

all I want is a fresh start. some one please help

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
