Fresh Win10 Install of 1 day and now BSOD....

I did a clean install of Win10 Pro yesterday, drivers all updated, my programs re-installed, no device manager problems...

In the evening while browsing with FireFox on this forum and a second window open for another forum the system locked up and then BSOD........saying windows had a problem and must restart....

Thought I would post and see if you Expert BSOD guys can give me an idea as to what the conflict might be.....

    Thanks in advance.....

    :)

  2. Crashes and BSOD Fresh Win10 Install

Thanks. Before seeing your reply, I was able to keep the system on long enough to install updates. (Crashed while downloading them, but was able to finish downloading them after reboot.) After installing updates the system ran fine for 3 hours. Will update
later if I experience any more issues.

  3. Crashes and BSOD Fresh Win10 Install

Brand new build, fresh (reluctant) install of Win10 purely for DX12 support.

    Specs:

    AMD R7 1700, no OC.

MSI B350 Tomahawk, current bios version, all drivers installed.

    XFX RX 480 RS 8GB

    16 GiB Corsair 2133mhz RAM

System will occasionally crash to BSOD

    Dump: dump.txt

Note: System ran fine for a few days in Win7, so processor should be fine.

More often than BSOD though, is a permanent system freeze.

I can only use the computer for between 30 seconds and 30 minutes at a time. (Has frozen on me four times trying to post this.)

I've been trying to remedy this for two days now with several hours of googling.

I've updated all drivers for GPU/mainboard, changed my Link State Power Management settings, ran a memory test, and increased the size of my page file. Tried to run updates, but I haven't been able to get them to go through without crashing.

There's usually no specific behavior to the crash, but there are two things I can do to guarantee a crash: I can try to run updates, or I can try to transfer a large file from an external to my internal SSD (Where Win10 is installed.

I'm at my wit's end with this. Windows 7 ran fine.

Warning Programs that claim to update your drivers install either the wrong or corrupted drivers.
If you have installed any driver with Driver Booster 3, please remove them as it may cause trouble.
The easiest way is a restore point that they normally create after use

Check ASUS for driver updates for your network card.

Thanks for the reply and information.....

I did use the latest ASUS driver for the WiFi card.........maybe I will replace the card...

I also did driver updates with the Iobit Driver booster program....I will try to roll those updates back........

Maybe it will be best to just do another Fresh Install........

Did you install the newest version of the network card after using driver booster or before?

Then it may be that driver booster simply installed wrong/corrupted drivers, however it can be a hell to troubleshoot when such drivers are present on a system.
