    fresh windows 10 reinstall on new ssd , cannot start without old ssd, media creation tool...


    I reinstalled windows 10 using Media Creation Tool usb on a new SSD .After booting with ALL three devices connected I get the installation screen again seekiing country, language etc and eventuallt I get asked which boot device ssd I want to use and windows will load ok.. This is with ALL THREE devices connected These are scenarios Im encountering Either one of SSD and without USB tool "no boot device "WIth USB tool and one SSD Blue screen with message about a device missing any help appreciated as ive spent so much time already

    New windows 10 installtion on New SSD - wont boot unless old SSD present

    It seems you installed Windows while the both SSDs were connected. This would have caused your current problem. Maybe it is sufficient to do this:

    1. Launch the Disk Manager.
    2. Right-click drive C:, then mark it as "active".
    3. Shut down Windows
    4. Open the BIOS and tell it that the new SSD is the primary boot device.
    5. Disconnect the old SSD.
    6. Boot up normally.

    If this does not work then you might have to do this:

    1. Disconnect the old SSD.
    2. Re-install Windows on the new SSD, using the Media Creation Tool.

    Media Creation Tool downgraded os from WIn 10 education to Win 10 Home

    I downloaded the Media Creation Tool. Created reinstall for "this machine". Swapped old ssd for new ssd. Reinstalled win 10 with Media Creation Tool. Ended up with Win 10 Home on new ssd, but had Win 10 Education on old ssd. What gives?

    Media creation tool on an SSD/HDD partition?

    Hi,

    I have used the windows media creation tool in the past with a USB stick to install a fresh copy of Windows 10.

    However I was wondering if it was possible to do the same thing with an SSD or HDD partition, so that if I were to install the drive to a new machine, the machine would be able to boot to that partition, and install windows to that same drive? Assuming that
    the machine in question has already had Windows on it previously.
