Windows 10: fresh windows install on SSD. Bios will not recognize SSD as bootable drive

ive got an old Lenovo G50-45. I wanted to upgrade the HD to SSD so I bought an HP 512GB SSD. At first the drive was only visible in disk part but after I created a volume and partitioned it and assigned a drive letter it became visible everywhere. Next I tried using clonezilla on the drive to clone the old HD but the bios wouldn't recognize the drive at all. I tried disabling safe boot in the BIOS but no change.As far as I can tell the bios is uptodate. I ended up downloading windows 10 to the SSD and plugged it in but it still wouldn't recognize it. At this point the HD is still installed and

Fresh installation of windows 10 onto SSD

I've recently bought a laptop which came with the OS installed on the HDD. However, I've bought a M.2 SSD that I want to load the operating system onto and boot from.

I've tried cloning the hard drive to the SSD to fresh installing windows 10 onto the SSD except neither works. When I tried cloning the HDD, the files appeared on the SSD, but in the BIOS settings it wasn't recognized as a bootable drive. On the other hand,
when I tried to do a fresh install of the OS onto the SSD, it automatically re-installed on the HDD without giving me an option.

Some help would be greatly appreciated.

SSD not recognized as bootable option

Hi, I am facing some issues with Windows installation in my new SSD. It is a Kingston A400 with 120Gb. First, I tried to make a clone from my HDD to the SSD, but it was not recognized as bootable. Then, I installed windows from a pen drive with the HDD also
installed (I did not know it is not recommended). It also did not work. Then, I formatted the SSD and installed windows again without the HDD and with the SSD in the motherboard, not in the caddy. This time it kind of worked, because the bootmanager asks me
to choose one of the windows options. However, in Bios it is not shown as bootable and when I choose the new windows there's an error: 0xc00000e, the winload.efi does not exist. I can still start windows from the HDD and I even did a system restore, but it
did not help. I have also played around with bcdboot, bcdedit, bootrec but none of them helped. In fact, bootrec commands return "the file specified could not be found". The automatic startup repair says it cannot fix it and the Kingston SSD Manager tool does
not recognize the SSD as well. However, I can copy and install things on it while in windows. All the BIOS parameters are correct, AHCI, fastboot off, secure boot off and so on. I am desperate, please help!

 

Cannot boot from SSD, get sent back to BIOS

I have recently got a new SSD for my desktop and wanted to do a fresh install of windows and replace my current HDD, giving me a fresh slate. I go through the standard windows installation with a USB, and unplug the USB after windows has been installed onto
the SSD, the computer will then restart and I get put back into the BIOS. My issue is that once i do this, every-time, no matter what I do when i try to boot to the SSD I get sent back to the BIOS, here is a list of what I've tried:

• Changing boot order
• unplugging every other SATA cable except for the one connected to the SSD
• plugging the SSD SATA cable into the lowest number SATA port on my motherboard
• Plugging in the SSD SATA cable into the port used by my disk drive
• Enabling and disabling safe boot in the BIOS
• enabling and disabling CSM in the BIOS
• Setting the boot CSM to "UEFI only" (does not recognize the SSD anymore)
• Installing windows from the USB with the SSD being the only drive attached
• using the same SATA port as my unplugged HDD for my SSD

When in the BIOS the SSD is the only possible boot device recognized by the motherboard, the BIOS does recognize the SSD as a bootable drive. I've checked the SSD when booting from my HDD and all the necessary windows files seem to be there. When attempting
to boot i get a black screen with a single flashing white line in the top left, then it proceeds into the BIOS.

I have no idea what's wrong and I have found nothing that can fix it. if it's necessary here is my hardware:

ASUS Z97-A

Intel I5-4670K

NVIDIA GeForce 1070

8 GB RAM

A sound card (if that's relevant)

Storage:

HDD: Seagate 1TB

SSD: WD 1TB SSD "3D NAND" (New Drive)
