Windows 10: Frustration With File Sharing

As far as I know, I have done everything called for in the tutorial "How to Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10". The one thing I cannot do is transfer a file from my computer to my wife's computer. I can open Network in File Manager, I can see the folder on her computer that I have set to share with everyone. Transferring a file to there is the one thing that so far I have failed to accomplish.

Apparently, "everyone" excludes me. This process was simple not too long ago, but at least for me, is anything other than simple. I don't even know where to begin to see what setting or settings I need to change, or perhaps I'm not even trying to transfer correctly.

Perhaps the worst part of this for me is doing a search for instructions outside of this site; there are lots of files about transferring over networks, and not a single one of them appears to even provide correct instructions.

File Sharing

The ability to share files within your homegroup can be set based on your preference in the HomeGroup settings. For us to identify if the file sharing issue is caused by the update or an option not being retained in the HomeGroup setting, we'd like to ask
for additional details. Please answer the following:

• Aside from installing an update, have you also made any recent changes to the HomeGroup settings?
• What specific update have you installed before the file sharing stopped working? To check the Update history, follow these steps:

• On the Search bar, type Settings.
• Open the Settings app from the search result.
• Click Update & security and check the Windows Update section.
• Click the Update history link.

• Have you already checked if the file and printer sharing is enabled in the
  Advanced sharing settings in the Control Panel?
• What build and version of Windows 10 are you using?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried based on the threads that you've read?

For initial troubleshooting, you can run the built-in troubleshooter for HomeGroup by following the steps below:

• On the Search bar, type Troubleshoot.
• Open the Control Panel from the search result.
• Click View all and locate HomeGroup.
• Click HomeGroup and follow the on-screen guide to run the troubleshooter.

This sounds pretty awesome, if true. There are a lot of old games I don't play that I'd be willing to share with friends, and there are some that I'd want to play but not sure about actually buying as well.
