Connecting to FTP Windows 10 FTP server

Total newb here.



Trying to set up a file server in Windows 10. I've set up IIS services (FTP service, FTP extensibility, and IIS management console). I created a test site with a physical path to a local folder. I set up a port forward (21) with xFinity (they say my server doesn't need a static IP address).



I want the server to be accessible from the internet and since apparently the major browsers have disabled ftp support, I've tried connecting with Cute FTP and Filezilla by using the server's public IP address, user name and password. Both just time out. I need to know where to start troubleshooting this.

Windows 10 Defender blocking FTP connections to FileZilla Server

IIRC ... Those three FTP Server inbound rules are for IIS FTP, which use ports 20,21 and if you're using the same ports for FileZilla, that might be what's causing the issue. If you have't already, try using a custom port range for FileZilla.

Note:
1. I use FileZilla FTP Server and the only inbound rule i have is ....
FileZilla FTP Server Private Yes Allow No %ProgramFiles% (x86)\FileZilla Server\FileZilla Server.exe
2. I use a high custom port range (example: 51000-51005)
3. I don't have IIS FTP installed.
