fTPM and blue screen problems after updating BIOS to latest version

I did an update on my ASUS X570 Plus BR motherboard BIOS from version 1407 to 5003 in order to install 2x NVMe that I purchase some days ago. Both drives were recognized by the BIOS, however, I noticed that windows 11 Pro 64bit were not able to boot anymore. A blue screen with some 0xc0000098 error bfadi.sys started to appear.A quick point here, I checked bitlocker before updating the BIOS as Asus claimed on their website, and bitlocker was off for all drive units. including C:.Now I'm trying to figure this out, and apparently, the only way to start the system again is to go in the BIOS and

  3. fTPM NV corrupted black screen

If the fTPM NV (the interface where Y or N is pressed) does not reappear, there is no need to reset the BIOS settings. Because a BIOS reset is a more thorough means of recovering the fTPM.

If you still encounter a blue screen while using Windows normally, please check if there are .dmp files in the C:\Windows\Minidump directory.

    • If so, package these files, upload them to OneDrive, and share them, and then include a link to share them in the next reply. Since these files detail exactly what happened when your system crashed, this helps us resolve your issue.
    • If not, run the following command to enable it. Win logo key + Q, open the search box, type "cmd", then right-click Command Prompt, select Run as administrator), and then type the following command.

This is to enable blue screen logging. You need to access the C:\Windows\Minidump directory to see if there are .dmp files after the next blue screen appears.

Or you can Perform a clean boot to see if it is normal, this is a troubleshooting step. In this mode, we can further confirm whether it is caused by system problem or third-party software or personalized settings. So, please be patient.

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step so that it will help you get you back on track.

  4. fTPM and blue screen problems after updating BIOS to latest version

    fTPM NV corrupted black screen

    My Laptop details:

    Purchased on: February, 2021

    Company: AVITA

    Series: Pura

    Model: NS14A6INV561-MEGYB

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.10 GHz

Installed RAM: 8.00 GB (6.95 GB usable)

It came with pre-installed Windows 10 Home in S Mode

Updated to: Windows 11 Home Single Language

Windows 11 was installed more than 1 year ago.

Latest windows updates installed as on November 4th, 2023. (Not sure about updates installed on 11th)

*** Problem Begins: 13 days ago, on November 11th, Laptop fan started making noise. Cleaned fan, fixed back, started system, worked well for 30 minutes, then I don't remember exactly what happened first: either Reboot then fTPM NV corrupted error OR direct black screen with CPU running. In short, system stopped working properly and problem begins.

    *** Multiple Experiments:

    A. Since then I am getting fTPM after every boot. Tried pressing N and Y several times. Sometimes system starts after that N/Y pressing, but I get black screen after 10 to 30 minutes of normal windows operation.

    B. Removed motherboard, disconnected all cables to it, CMOS battery not found, applied good quality thermal paste on processor, fixed all parts back, on each boot it gives blinking screen with Avita logo and not going beyond this, pressed hard power off, made several attempts without success. Disconnected laptop battery cable, connected charging cable, system boots till fTPM error, pressing Y shows options to either go for normal login OR do troubleshooting, went with normal login 3 times but after 10 to 30 minutes I get black screen with CPU running. Hard power off and then rebooting again shows fTPM error.

    C. After all this, battery kept disconnected and laptop is only on direct charging cable, then I went to BIOS screen, stayed on BIOS screen for 3 hours but found no black screen during BIOS screen. Repeated second time, stayed on BIOS screen for 3 hours without seeing black screen.

*** Current Problem: how to solve this fTPM NV corrupted black screen problem permanently. I can access windows for 10 to 30 minutes if any setting change requires. I have access to BIOS screen.

Remember: Laptop manufacturing company AVITA is bankrupt and its business is closed permanently.
