Full rights for disk shared over network

Hey guys! I finally got a PSU for my fileserver, and got it tested. It world perfect, but! I got a little problem, me and my stepdad is gonna use this server (it's mine) and I want both of us to access it from all our pc's and write to it. I didn't get it working when I had my NUC as a temp server. And I really want it do work now. So me and my stepdad can write data to it over the network.
How? Can anyone help me out on this problem?
    Thank you

    :)

  2. Risk of disk sharing

I have two system in my home. One is Desktop running Windows 10 Pro and another is a laptop running Windows 10 Home. The desktop is connected via Ethernet cable to my router and the laptop is connected to Internet via WiFi network of the same router.

Now from both the system I turn on Sharing. For this I right click the partition > Properties > Sharing and allow it to share.

I can access then hard disk partition from both the system.

Now my question is there any risk associated with it? Like can someone outside the network or over the Internet hack into my system? Also when I access the hard disk over the network why it don't prompt for user name and password?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cannot access shared folder

OK, found solution. If you have shared a folder on your local network, and if it cannot be accessed by others despite giving FULL CONTROL in sharing options for EVERYONE. Try this... it basically involves granting full control to everyone in the security
    tab.

Right click folder > Security > Edit > Add > advanced > find now > and select Everyone. Click OK and close property box.

Now again right click the folder > Security > Edit > select Everyone and give full control in permissions.

That's it. Of course some may argue this lowers the security threshold for that shared folder, but I couldn't care less as it applies to me. I know whats in my shared folders (nothing of worth) and trust those in my local network.
