Windows 10: Fullscreen option in games not fully working

HelloI have a weird problem I cannot find anywhere else to use the answers to fix it.The alt+tabbed fullscreen games don't display properly when I click on them on the taskbar.Take for example Minecraft that is set on fullscreen.When I click on its icon in the taskbar, it displays only one frame from the game, then immediately turns back to the original view.For exmaple when I look at my desktop and wallpaper, clicking Minecraft shows a singular frame, then returns to me seeing the desktop again.I don't know how to explain it better, but I noticed that spamming left mouse button eventually get

Windows 10 1709 (16299.309) has somehow disabled 'Fullscreen' in games.

I recently updated to 1709 and have found that games no longer have access to fullscreen mode.

Most games force me directly to Windowed mode, and no longer list Fullscreen in the enum. Some games still allow windowed fullscreen. Games that list the standard Fullscreen typically crash or post an error when I swap to that mode.

The only thing that has changed on my system is my OS version, and I've been using an otherwise identical setup for gaming for years.

Since updating windows, I updated my video drivers, which resolved nothing. Sadly I just passed my 1 week window to undo the windows 'upgrade'.

 

PC games not in fullscreen in Windows 10

Hope this helps someone else. I was also having the problem with not being able to play games in fullscreen in Windows 10. This what I did:

If you have not updated your Display Adapters go to Device Manager first - look for Display adapter and click on the drop down box and it should show you what to do next.

Open display settings

Change the size of text - apps - other items to 125%

Click Advanced Display Settings - change to 1440 x 900

Very important. On all your games that have a fullscreen option make sure that this option is TURNED OFF .

Turn this option on, ONLY when you are actually playing the game. Somehow the fullscreen option will not work when another game is using it and it doesn't even matter if the first game is closed.

Automatically moving a fullscreen window onto a new desktop

In Windows 10, there is an option to open an app in a fullscreen view. This way, it will be possible for you to make the fullscreen window move to a new desktop. Follow these steps to do so.

• Right click on the application.
• Select Properties.
• Click on the Shortcut tab.
• Beside the Run option, click on the drop-down menu and then choose Maximized.
  
• Click on Apply button and then click OK.
