  1. Game Bar does not want to record "game audio only"

Here is the scenario. I like to listen to music while I play games. Typically, I stream a radio station in a browser with in-game music muted but SFX still on. Sometimes I play with a group on Discord as well, but I cannot get the app to record only the game audio no matter which settings I have selected.

Game Bar > Settings > Capturing > Audio to record = Results:

Game = Records game audio but is quiet (bad), also records Discord SFX (bad) which is also louder and clearer than game audio. Browser audio is not recorded (good).

All = Records game audio loud and clear (good) but also records browser audio (bad). Discord SFX is not recorded (good).

With 'Game' enabled, Discord SFX is included despite having it muted on the Game Bar dash. I can still listen to music from the browser without it being recorded though. With 'All' enabled, browser music is included, muting it in the dash actually mutes it completely and I can't listen to it. Discord is also muted on the dash still, but I am now able to hear it without it being recorded.

The ideal scenario should be that the game audio is recorded loud and clear, while Discord and browser audio are not included but I may still listen to them while filming, but I cannot figure how to achieve that. Currently, the best option is to not listen to music, and have the 'All' setting selected.

Checkmarking "Record game audio only" under Windows settings simply reverts the Game Bar back to 'Game' where it records game audio quiet and Discord audio loud.

  2. How to make sure Game Bar only records game audio, and not audio from other apps?

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you want to record the in game audio only and mute the audio from other apps.

You can change the game bar settings to record only the game audio. To do that follow the steps mentioned below.

    1. Press Windows key +
      G to launch Game Bar.
    2. Click on Settings (Gear icon).
    3. Click on Capturing.
    4. Under Recording, select the check box for
Record in the background while I’m playing a game.
    5. Under Audio to Record, select the Radio button for
Game. (If you are still unable to get Audio, select the Radio button to All).

Game Bar does not want to record "game audio only"

Choppy audio in videos recorded through Game bar

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that the game audio is choppy in the recording. This generally happens when the recording is not ended correctly. We can try restarting the service for Game bar and see if that helps in resolving the issue. Please follow the steps mentioned
    below:

    1. Close the game and Game bar.
    2. Press and hold Ctrl + Shift + Esc
keys together to open Task Manager.
    3. Click on More details.
    4. Look for BcastDVRUserService, and click on
      End Task.
    5. Restart the game and try recording again.

You can change the settings how the audio is recorded and see if that helps in resolving the Audio issue. Please navigate to
Settings (Windows key + I) >> Gaming >> Captures >> Recorded audio. You can change the Audio quality, and change the Microphone and System volume.

Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.
