Windows 10: Game Doesnt respond to every input

So, to make a long story short I have a non gaming laptop, and per recommendations from a friend, decided to get steam and play a series of non intensive graphic novels; specifically Danganronpa. While the first two games worked absolutely fine, the third game is... giving me a hard time. It is larger and more intensive on my computer, which is honestly fine. Its not an action oriented game, I can deal with a little jank. However my Mouse isnt working! Sometimes I will click and it just does absolutely nothing. Its consistently inconsistent, and since it's a Graphic novel, clicking through dialogue boxes is 85% of the game. I will sometimes have to click 4 or 5 times just to get the game to accept my input. Using the trackpad instead of my wireless mouse, or the Z key which is the same option as left mouse click cause the exact same issues. Is there some way I can make the software respond? Is it an issue with my hardware? Any and all help is appreciated.

I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

  Open Tablet PC Input Panel by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type
  Tablet PC Input Panel, and then, in the list of results, tap
  Tablet PC Input Panel.

  Tap Tools, and then tap Exit.
  

If you don't see the Exit option, do the following:

• 
  Click Tools, and then tap
  Options.
  
• 
  In the Options dialog box, tap the
  Opening tab, clear the For tablet pen input,
  show the icon next to the text box and Use the Input Panel tab check boxes, and then tap
  OK.

System Stopped Responding aka Freezed

Thank you for your prompt response. Based on your answers, there are possibility that some components of the game are corrupted. If your game is freezing or not responding, uninstalling and reinstalling it will remove and replace the files that run the game.

Here are the steps on how to uninstall and reinstall your game:

• Press the Windows key on your keyboard.
• Select All apps, and then find your game in the list.
• Right-click the game tile, and then select Uninstall.
• Follow the steps to uninstall the game.
• To reinstall your game, open Windows Store app, and then select the profile button.
• Select My Library.
• Locate the game in the list of available downloads, and then select the download icon to the right.

We also suggest that you restart your computer to normal startup to disable unnecessary apps that run in the background of your computer while you are using it. Here's how:

• Press Windows + R on the keyboard.
• Type msconfig, and then click
  OK.
• On the General tab, click the
  Normal Startup, and then click OK.
• When you are prompted to restart the computer, click
  Restart.
