    Game Ownership Contradictions

Hello,A short while agomaybe a few months I migrated to a new drive on my computer. The old HDD that I used is now a backup and extra storage for steam games and such. The problem came to be when I tried to reinstall Fallout 76 on my new drive. it says that I do not own the game anymore while I can still use it on my other drive. The First image shows that when I boot from my old HDD I can open and run Fallout 76 with no problems from my Microsoft account. The second image shows that when I boot from my new drive it shows that I do not own the game.I'm unsure of what to do here to get it to

    :)

  2. Ownership Issues

that will not hurt taking ownership, but I would also then look in the list of users on the ownership page and make sure your user account name is there with full permissions. Probably not.

even though you take ownership of an item, you may not be in the list of users with permissions.

first select disable inheritance, then select "ADD" in the list of users, and add your user account the same way you took ownership and select full permissions.

Then administrators may only have select permissions in the list. so after you disable inheritance, delete admins user. then select add again and select admins in the list and select full permissions

    restart pc

  3. Can I play Games on Windows 10??

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

I suggest you to take ownership of the game file and check.

Follow the steps mentioned below to change the ownership of the game file:

    • Press and hold the folder that you want to take ownership of, then tap
      Properties
. (If you are using a mouse, right-click the folder, and then click
      Properties.)
    • Tap or click the Security tab, tap or click Advanced, then tap or click
Change. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    • Type the name of the person that you want to give ownership to, and then click
      Check Names.
    • Note: the account name for the person that you are assigning ownership to is displayed.
    • Click OK.
    • If you want this person to be the owner of the files and subfolders that are contained in this folder, select the
Replace owner on sub containers and objects check box.
    • Click OK.

Hope the information helps, if you have any further queries, feel free to post. We are here to assist you.

    Regards,

    Take Ownership

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your concern here in Microsoft Community and welcome to the Windows 10 Family.

From the description of the issue, I understand that you are unable to take full ownership of the files and folders.

I would recommend you to see if you are logged in administrator account, if not then enable it. Please follow the below steps.

I would suggest you to enable the built in administrator account.

You need to run the command from an elevated command prompt. To do that you need to do the following:

    • Press the Windows key t+ R from the keyboard to open the Run Command Dialog Box
    • Enter cmd and right-click on the Command Prompt result that should appear.
    • This opens a list of options at the bottom. Select Run as administrator there.
    • Accept the UAC prompt
    • Enter the following command to enable the hidden administrator account:
      net user administrator /active:yes
Hope the above information was helpful. If you need further assistance, please do let us know and we would be happy to help you further.

    Thank You.
