Windows 10: Game refuses to update

I was trying to update Minecraft for Windows 10 to the latest version, and it refuses to update. It hadn't even started updating after about 2 hours!

Does anyone else have games that refuse to start?

I understand your concern and frustration you have been through. I will be glad to assist you.

1. Do you get any error message?

2. Is the issue specific to these games?

This issue might occur if the game are not compatible or graphic card drivers are not updates to latest drivers and game updates.

I suggest you to follow these Methods below.

Follow these steps to update graphics drivers.

a. Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.

b. Search for Display Adapters and expand it.

c. Right click on the graphics driver and select Update driver software.

d. Restart the System and check playing the Game again.

If issue persists follow Method 2

Method 2: Compatibility mode

Follow the steps below on how to install Game in compatibility mode:

1. Download the Game from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

2. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.

3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

4. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.

5. Let the Game install and then check the functionality.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

geforce experience takes an age to load..

Well that's why I asked. Mine is on SSD and takes 11 seconds. Your list of games will not appear if it has not checkd for updated suggested settings for awhile until it checks.

When it says it is refreshing the game list, it is checking, because NVIDIA periodically updates suggested settings. Plus it will look for those for new games you have installed.

So, the less it is run, the slower it will be.
