Windows 10: Game Update Error Related to Windows Store

I am trying to update an already installed game, Sea of Thieves, which was purchased through the Windows Store. When I click the Windows Store desktop shortcut nothing launches. The game can be successfully launched but obviously cannot be played because it is not running the current version, so after launch I get redirected to update the game version. When I launch the Xbox app and get asked to update the game I receive Error Code 0x80073cfeThis problem appears to be directly related to Windows Store, rather than Xbox or Sea of Thieves, since it cannot be launched to do anything at the moment

To download a game without this error, we suggest that you try resetting the Windows store with the following steps:

• Press Windows Key + R.
• Type, WSReset.exe, then hit enter.

The error 0x80246008 refers to Windows update error. So I suggest you to follow the below steps to fix the update error and then try downloading the game from store.

Method 1: I suggest you to update your system to the latest Windows 10 build and also check if for the pending updates in resolving the issue.

Method 2:
App Troubleshooter

I suggest you to run app troubleshooter through below link for issues related to edge and check if it helps.

Method 3:Try to run the Windows update troubleshooter and see
if it fix the issue:

• 
  Press Windows Key from keyboard, then type ‘troubleshoot’ and select the same from the list.

  Select “View all” on the left panel and run “Windows update” troubleshooter from the list
  
• 
  Click Advanced, ensure to check
  Apply repairs automatically and also select Run as administrator
  
• 
  Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting.
  

Once done, check if it allows you install Windows Updates without any errors.

If that doesn't work, try the following steps. To change or restart the Windows Update service.

When you download a Game or an App from Windows Store, the location where the files and folders related to the Game or an App will be located in
WindowsApps folder at Program Files which can be accessed from C: drive.

Step 1: You can search the Game or an App you downloaded using
Cortana by following the steps below:

• Click on Start key on the Keyboard and type the game name in the search box. The downloaded game will show in the top most search result.
  
• Click on the game and check if you can access the game.

Step 2: To pin the game on the taskbar, follow the steps below:

• Search for the game using Cortana by following the steps above.
• Right click on the game and select Pin to Taskbar option.
• Close the window and check if the game is pinned to taskbar.
