  1. Game will not launch in admin account but will launch in local user account. How do I fix...

I am not able to launch my EA game from my standard adminstrator account. I did a lot of trouble shooting through EA themselves thinking it is a app problem. One of the things I tried was to create a new local user on the PC with no microsoft account attached and attempted to launch the game. It worked perfectly. I want to fix my admin account so that I can also launch the game because clearly this is a windows issue and not a game or EA app problem. Please help!

    :)

  2. Default admin account for launching apps

    Hi there,

I have raised this question before, but so far got no proper answer. Here is the link to the old discussion

    Redirecting

Below I attach a photo taken to demonstrate the problem.

I have 2 admin UAC and 1 non-admin user account (3 accounts all together). The old admin account is Microsoft-linked account, the newly created one is the local admin account. Most of the time I work at my laptop using the non-admin user account, only occasionally I use my admin accounts to install or launch a program.

The problem is that most of the time it is more convenient for me to use my old Microsoft-linked account in order to install or launch a program, however by default Windows always prompts me to type the password for my most recent local admin account. The question is how do I change the sequence, so that by default Windows prompts me to type the password for my Microsoft-linked admin account?

    Thanks.

  3. Try3 Win User
My admin account switched to a user account!

The first of the many diagrams in this thread show that the link Sign in with a local account instead is displayed for the account that is currently logged on and so the reversion procedure might work for this account. For normal circumstances, that would initiate the conversion back to a local account for the user account currently logged in - see my 23rd & 26th September 2016 posts in revert to local account from one converted to MSAccount. I have no way of knowing how Windows will react to an attempt to use this procedure for the Built-In Admin account and I do not know if that link Sign in with a local account instead will be displayed or not.

I think I side-stepped this issue by suggesting that that
    • An extra password-protected Admin level account is created, and
    • The Built-In Admin is disabled, and
    • The recovery attempt focuses on whichever existing user account remains active afterwards.

Personally, I would reinstall Windows 10 without even attempting this recovery. Installation takes very little effort once everything is backed up and the only necessary user interactions are right at the start & right at the end so it can be initiated before making a pot of tea. It took about 30, 60 & 90 minutes for each of my computers [the 30 minuter is 6 months old, the 60 minuter is 7 years old, 90 minuter is 12 years old].

Raner - I am trying to avoid sounding like I am nagging you into doing a clean install.
    • Once you have recovered the existing user account you can attempt to re-enable & remove the MSAccount link from your Built-In Admin if that link appears in Settings, Accounts.
    • Bree says it cannot be done and I think the same but I have never tried - I have never been able to get to Settings using the Built-In Admin because it cannot run any Windows 10 Apps so I do not know how it can be done [but the diagrams in Bree's link shows that those users got there].
    • Even though I have the safety of having created two spare password-protected Admin accounts I would not want to know that my Built-In Admin was sitting in the background but unable to help me if my other accounts were corrupted.

  4. Game will not launch in admin account but will launch in local user account. How do I fix...

Can I have two Microsoft Account Users with the same Microsoft account

I agree with NavyLCDR, your two accounts should be setup as he described:
User A: Local account - elevated (Admin account)
User B: MS account - standard privileges (User), your day-to-day account, this should be setup to sync
    try this:
Review what you sync BEFORE syncing!!
Anything that User B sync'd will be sync'd to User A (local account)

Settings > Accounts > Sync your settings

see: Sync Settings - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

    1. Sign-out of UserB
(just to save time, you might be able to sign in to the MS account while signed in on UserA,
but there might be conflict - as NavyLCDR stated)

    2. Sign-in to User A

    3. launch a browser
Sign in to your Microsoft account

    4. launch OneDrive
select the individually sign-in per app option
(do not pick always sign in option - that will change your local account to an MS account, new or existing)
!! This step might not be necessary, you can try it with or with signing in to Onedrive.
!! The key is the individually sign-in to apps - OneDrive is where the sync is stored (I think)

    5. Sync your settings

User A should have whatever User B sync'd.

Please let me know if you tried just signing in to your MS account (not launch | not sign-in to OneDrive) ...
I think that should be enough, but gave you another path to test - just in case.
