Windows 10: Games are switching resolution when entering fullscreen mode

I have a problem where When I open a game like apex legends or fortnite, My monitor resolution jumps up to 3840 by 2160 witch is only supported as 30 htz. But I want my games to run at 1920 by 1080 at 144htz because that is my monitors refresh rate. Does anyone know how to fix this because this is really annoying. P.S I don't know if the reason why this is happening is because I have a monitor connected to my laptop, and am using the laptop as a second display. My specs are a core I7-8750H 2.20 GHz and a 1050 TI, I also have windows 10 and 16 gigs of ram. PLs Help me.

How to Fix Switch To FullScreen Issue In Games

Some games ( according to google search Many games ) now showing switch to full screen issue in windows 10. how to fix this?

Example : Dungeon Hunter 5 Game playing quite cool in my windows 8 PC. but giving this full screen issue in the brand new windows 10 lappy ive bought for my Nephew.

* Ive checked almost in all resolutions available in display settings.

* Ive checked by installing windows 10 in a pc.

When i searched i found lot n lots of complaint threads regarding switch to fullscreen issue, why no steps taken yet to correct it. Ive been a windows fan for more than 15years, i hope you guys will fix it soon.

Games crashing in fullscreen mode

Hi, I have a problem with all games on my PC for a while. Every time when I try to launch games in fullscreen, they crash and won't launch. I mask the problem with windowed mode (in windowed mode there is no problem) but it's annoying and fps drops down
in windowed mode.

I tried so many things - reinstalling display drivers, reinstalling all games and steam, some minor "fixes" that I found on the web, but nothing helps.

My PC specs:

• Windows 10 x64
• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M
• Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU

I really don't know what to do. I will be very happy if someone can help. Thank you!

 

Preventing resolution breaking when playing a game fullscreen

I am sorry if the title sounds misleading, I'm not entirely sure how to best word this. I have a 3840x2160p monitor. When I play demanding games I usually have to play at a lower resolution. However I also want to play fullscreen otherwise the game will be confined to a small window, but then it breaks the resolution of the desktop and of the second screen, moving all the open windows in odd places...

Is there a way to play fullscreen at lower resolution without impacting either the second monitor or other windows size and position? Failing that, maybe a way to play in borderless fullscreen at lower resolution?
