Windows 10: Games crashing with Exception code: 0xc0000005

I'm at a loss here, I've been trying to figure out why games on my PC crash, it really should be able to handle anything I throw at it except 4K stuff could it be heat related? My PC does get quite hot inside, maybe some of the fans are broken? Random apps and games crashes with error 0xc0000005 and blue screens

Since the end of July 2019 my apps and games (including windows services) have been crashing randomly, the windows event log lists these crashes with error 0xc0000005, here's an example for the game Verdun (other apps and games crash with the same error):

I have also been having random blue screens with the errors PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA and CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED.

I have used windows Driver Verifier and I managed to get some blue screens that point to the clipsp.sys driver but I don't think the content of the blue screen contains everything meaningful.

The crashes do not seem to happen in Safe Mode.

In the past months I have tried almost everything:

• Clean boot
• Updated windows to latest version
• Used all tools to check integrity or corruption like sfc, chkdsk, ecc.
• Clean reinstalled windows multiple times
• Replaced RAM modules
• Replaced motherboard

The crashes still happen. Since I have no idea what is causing these crashes my next step will be replacing the CPU...

 

Error code 0xc0000005

Hi Samuel,

If running your antivirus software to scan for malicious programs does not help, I suggest disabling Data Execution Prevention. It's a built-in feature on Windows for protecting your computer. Some programs may not be compatible with this feature and opening
the app or game will cause 0xc0000005 error.

To disable it, log in using an admin account and follow these steps:

1. Press Windows key + R, type sysdm.cpl and press
   Enter.
2. Click the Advanced tab > Settings button.
3. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
4. Select Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
   
5. Click Add and open the problematic executable file/game.
6. Click OK.

Various Games Crashing With Same Exception Code

Hello all! Recently while playing various games such as Rainbow Six Siege and Monster Hunter World, I have been hard crashing to desktop without and errors/messages popping up, and after checking in event viewer, the errors all list the same exception code
of 0xc0000005. Here is the error txt!

There are no previous errors/info/warnings in event viewer prior to the error, such as the error happened at 3:26 PM, with nothing else in close timing beforehand.

I just bought and installed MHW, nvidia drivers are up to date and cleanly installed/reinstalled, most drivers are clean/not failing and up to date.
