    Games for Windows Live: Accessing Product Keys for Previous Purchases


    Hello, I know this is a little late but I was trying to play Tinker and though I can get Games for Windows Live to download, it's asking me for my product key. While this was a free game, it did have a key attached, and without the server connecting, I can't see a way to get access. I really want to finish that last achievement. I figure I'll probably have other keys there as well as I look into my back catalog, and would love to find out how to get a doc with all of these product keys.


    Currently the error when trying to access the product key via "All Downloads" on the GFWL program is: "There was an error retrieving your purchase history. Please sign out and try again later." Which I'm sure is because the server is down, but I figure this purchase history has to be backed up somewhere else as well.

    • Did you download the ISO of the Game from the Steam?
    It is not Windows Live Key, it’s a game product key which is required to install the game.

    I suggest you to check with Steam for Product key and check if it helps.

    • Are you referring to game product key?

    • Did you purchase it from Microsoft Store?


    If you have purchased from Online then you will get an Email which contains the Product Key.

    If you have purchased from any store then product key will be there in the hard copy (behind the CD, DVD).
