  2. how to fix frames for game when in full screen

    Hello Marleny Diaz1,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community!

I understand that you are experiencing a dramatic decrease in frame rate in full screen mode, and I understand your concern.

If the game's frame rate drops significantly in full-screen mode, there could be several reasons for this problem. Here are some suggestions you can consider:

    1. Update the graphics card driver: Make sure your graphics card driver is the latest version. Visit the official website of the graphics card manufacturer to download and install the latest driver.

    2. I recommend trying a clean boot which starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It can be used to determine whether a background service or program is interfering or causing a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step.

    3. Reduce graphics settings: Adjust graphics settings in the game, such as reducing resolution, reducing special effects, etc. This can reduce the burden on the graphics card and improve the game frame rate.

You can view the graphics preferences for your game app by following these steps:

    • Windows search and open Settings --- System --- Screen --- Open the "Display Card" option --- Select the game in the list, or search for the name of the game --- Click on the game and select "Options", if the game is using "High Performance" change it to "Auto Balance", save the changes and close the window.

    4. You can try using DISM and SFC to inspect and repair the system.

To do this, right-click "Start > Command Prompt (Administrator) " and type the following command:

It is normal to need more time at 62.3%. If there is no error, it is recommended to wait a little longer.

After running the command, then restart. Check if the problem persists.

Hope this helps, please feel free to reply me if anything is unclear or if there are any further updates, thanks.

    Best Regards ,

    Automatic resolution change for games

    Hi,

A corrupted data may cause an automatic resolution change for your games. Here are 2 methods on how to troubleshoot automatic resolution change for games:

Method 1: Here are steps on how to change hardware acceleration:

    1. Go to Start

    2. Click on Control Panel

    3. In control panel window, click on Appearance and Personalization

    4. Click on Personalization

    5. Select Display Settings, and then click Advanced Settings.

    6. Go to Troubleshoot tab, and then click Change Settings.

Note: Change Settings will be disabled if the graphics card drivers do not support disabling hardware acceleration.

    7. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider until it is one notch to the right of None. This is the basic acceleration setting.

    8. Click OK twice, and then close the window.

    Method 2:

Update the Video card drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
